This is indeed a fun book for beginning competent readers: there is quite a bit of smart humor and definitely enough action to keep the reader’s interest high. The thematic query of whether fate determines (or should determine) the course of one’s life is presented in ways that will inspire young readers (7 or 8) to ponder without overwhelming them with confusing ideas.
